Enjoying coffee while watching another episode of Perry Mason. It’s a lazy, comfortable, mid-week morning for an old retired guy like me. Can you tell?

I’m often amazed at the variety of actors who regularly appeared on the 1960s TV series. This morning the episode is The Case of the Tragic Trophy which aired November 19, 1964:

Movie producer Anthony Fry returns from Mexico supposedly engaged to aspiring actress Kathy Anders. In reality, she is trying to clear her father, who Fry claimed worked drunk on a film. When Fry is murdered, Kathy is seen leaving the site.

I immediately recognized one of the tertiary actors, John Fiedler. The actor played many roles over the course of his long and varied career, his unique voice famously appears in animated roles as well. But I particularly enjoyed his portrayal of Administrator Hengist in the 14th episode of season two of Star Trek, the original series, called Wolf in the Fold.

Fans will recall this as the one where the evil spirit of ‘Jack the Ripper’ and a dozen other serial killers moved into space and met the crew of the Enterprise. As a youngster when it first aired, it was one of the only episodes of Star Trek that gave me chills. I mean come on, the story was written by Robert Bloch who was known to spin a few good horror tales.

Have a look, do you remember the episode? Sorry for the interrupted memories, now back to my morning coffee and maybe one more episode of Perry Mason before I get my day rolling.
