It’s been raining this morning. I heard it begin in the wee hours and it has been off and on ever since. It’s somewhat cooler this morning too, I like that. The lawn has been mowed three times so far this season and it looks pretty healthy, all the proper weed and feeds having been applied. We don’t normally put out flowers until Mother’s Day though with the noticeably changing seasons summer has been backing up into spring so much I don’t suppose it would hurt to plant new flowers this week. We’ve already seen temps above 80F several times. Still, we’re going to wait. Traditions are worth something even in hot weather.

All of my antennas are down at the moment. Let’s call it maintenance. My shack upgrade project has been superseded by other things, apparently more important things. Building out the home lab has been a useful diversion as that nears a first phase completion. I’ve also been working on this (web) server as it seems perpetually under attack from bots and probes and blocking and parrying are my only recourse. I don’t fret about it too much, but I do check the logs, I see the evildoers lurking, probing, rattling the doors and windows looking for anything left open. I spend an inordinate amount of time double-checking the locks.

I’ve become concerned about the growing number of ham bloggers who have disappeared like a NASA or nuclear research scientist. Larry, W2LJ has been missing since before Christmas. John, K3WWP hasn’t had much to say for over a month. And now I see Bill, VE3FI has signed off too. It goes without saying to the remaining few ham bloggers, last one out turn off the lights…
