I woke up this morning and deleted my Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram accounts. It wasn’t a rash decision, I’ve been thinking about this for quite some time. Having nothing to sell and no brand to promote, I derive limited value from my participation and the time wasted is not insignificant.

The Internet used to be a continuous stream of change and innovation and time was measured more in dog years than human. That was part of its charm. I can’t believe that Facebook and Twitter have been in operation for nearly two decades - I can’t believe I’ve fooled around with this stuff for so long.

The only real downside in dumping these services is they had become the primary way some people communicated with me. Good thing email still works in the age of social media. Radio probably still does too. I once read that it works when all else fails…
