I worked 8J1H90T one day last month on 15 meters. The JARL special event station was wrapping up a year long celebration of the 90th anniversary of Hiratsuka City (Hiratsuka90) established in 1932.

The city is located on the north of the Sagami bay, an area with a good climate, kind people and beautiful sea. Tanabata festival in July is also famous for its history and the size. There are a few hundred ham radio operators in the city and very active locally and for overseas.

I’ve already received an LoTW confirmation for the contact, but the QRZ page indicates that the special QSL card commemorating all contacts made will also be sent via the bureau.

Desiring the card, but not certain I’m still current, I sent funds to the 9-land bureau just to be certain. I don’t normally collect paper cards but there was a teaser and a spoiler included in the QRZ listing that said, “See you on the air in 10 years as the 100 year anniversary of Hiratsuka city”.

Yeah, I hope to collect that card too.
