Having an ICOM IC-7610 in the shack I was interested to see this announcement about an impending firmware upgrade that will add some interesting functionality.

The IC-7610 (firmware update required) provides the Digital Pre-Distortion (DPD) function. This technology corrects nonlinear distortion at the final amplifier stage, by applying inverse distortion at the Pre-Distortion section in the FPGA unit in advance. Of course, in the combination with the IC-PW2, the DPD function has an even greater effect.

Looks like all the hardware hooks are already in place and the firmware update (not yet available) will activate this feature.
