Turning Leaves
The last week was another busy one that sped by before I could do much about it. Apologies for the lack of updates. I spent a healthy dose of free time on the air making joyful radio noises. I especially enjoy short sprints, those that run an hour or even just 30 minutes several times each week. Of course I’m not good at it, but I think of it as a great opportunity to exercise the hardware, check the antennas, the logging software, and work the grey matter a little too.
On Sunday I was awake and moving early and drove two-and-a-half hours to visit the Findlay (Ohio) hamfest. I have been attending this one since the early 1990s. The weather is almost always agreeable this time of year and the location is ideal. But like most hamfests, time hasn’t been kind and all of them seem a little smaller and a little less special with the passage of years. I met a buddy of mine from Cincinnati there and we were able to catch-up and even shared lunch at a nice little Irish pub in downtown Findlay after leaving the fairgrounds.
Speaking of the weather, temperatures here have turned quite lovely. High temps in the 70s are forecast for as far into the future as the prognosticators dare to predict (10 days). It feels great outside and there has been a noticeable shift in the hue of the leaves. Autumn is upon us and I can only hope it will be a long and happy season!
