DXCC Note
December 13, 2024
In the aftermath of the Great Hack of 2024 the ARRL managed to get LoTW operational after a few months of recovery efforts. What wasn’t restored at the same time was DXCC application processing.
There was this announcement:
The ARRL DXCC® System has been returned to service, and our staff is again processing applications for credit toward DXCC awards. The queue includes nearly 3,000 award applications submitted via Logbook of The World® (LoTW®) accounts and mailed paper applications. We are processing the backlog as quickly as possible, and will provide additional progress updates. For now, the online DXCC application will remain offline. Any new award applications we receive will experience significant delays as we work through the backlog.
After waiting a few weeks, and having a queue of my own records to be processed, I submitted my application on October 21st. Two weeks later my credit card was charged the service fees. This week my credits appeared in LoTW so it seems the system has either completely or nearly caught up with the backlog.
I appreciate the efforts to get things rolling again, but I believe everyone will be happy to bid adieu to 2024 and all the troubles that has attended it.
