I caught SM4OTI calling CQ on 10 meters this morning. He had a great signal on this end and we had a brief chat. His QTH is Leksand, famous for the Leksands IF ice hockey team, who have won four Swedish Championships. I remained parked on frequency for an hour or so afterwards listening as Stefan made another dozen or so contacts. I was listening via the speaker so could easily copy him while I ate my breakfast in the kitchen.

While that was wonderful of course, it also made me think how fortunate we are to be enjoying the HF bounty from this solar cycle. It was a only a few years ago when we could go days, weeks, or even months without so much as hearing a signal on the ten meter band. Yet right now, and hopefully for at least the next few years, the world has become a tiny place thanks to great radio propagation.
