Wet Grass
Incoming LoTW surprises have slowed to barely a trickle and it’s safe to say that not much radio has been going on here lately. I thought all the QSO party activity this last weekend might recharge my batteries, instead, I ignored it all. Only contacts I made this weekend were with a few POTA activators as I feel bad for those guys when the bands are crappy and I know they’re out there in the field trying to have a good time and I want them to at least get their ten contacts.
I’ve made 1301 contacts in 884 unique parks with POTA activators to date. I’d guess 98% of that is via CW. I only use CW for POTA these days though early on in that quest I did make a handful of phone contacts and an even smaller number of contacts via digital. I suppose I could be hitting a wall using only CW. The growth in unique parks worked has slowed considerably. Kinda like fishing out a hotspot in the lake. If there are only ‘X’ CW park activators and I’ve worked them all, the only growth that can be expected is if that same crowd travels farther from home hitting new parks along the way…
We’ve now had four consecutive days of slow, soaking rain that looks like will come to an end fairly soon. Good thing too. I walked out across the backyard this morning to refill the bird feeder and couldn’t help but notice how deep and wet the grass is less than a week since I last mowed it. Its so tall right now that it will be difficult to cut, and that won’t happen before Wednesday because its just too wet. Have I mentioned this is shaping to be a long, long mowing season? Sigh.
