I was curious enough to look over the 800 some items rock star Joe Walsh will be auctioning off at the Troubadour in Los Angeles this week. The collection includes some old amateur radio gear which was my main interest, but, wow, that’s a lot of guitars!

Life’s Been Good Joe Walsh Auction

Set for Tuesday and Wednesday at the Troubadour, the event will feature nearly 800 lots in all, including cars, recording gear, ham radio equipment and quite a few garments — not least a red-brick-pattern Moschino suit — worn by Walsh over his years as a solo act and as a member of the Eagles, the James Gang, Barnstorm and the All-Starr Band fronted by his famous brother-in-law, Ringo Starr.

Joe, WB6ACU has held a ham radio license since 1961 and is well-known in our community for his music life and his radio life. He’s an incredibly interesting fellow who says he isn’t selling these things because he has fallen on hard times but rather, “I just want all of these things to have a good home instead of lying in a dusty storage room because I don’t use them anymore.”

Perhaps you will bid on something? Let me know if you do! A portion of the auction’s proceeds will go to Walsh’s VetsAid organization, which provides assistance to veterans of the armed forces and their families.
