48 Years, Still Got Gas in the Tank
August 25, 2026
Forty-eight years ago today my wife and I were wed at a small church in East Central Indiana. Not surprisingly, only a small handful of friends and relatives who attended that ceremony are still with us. Most have slipped into the sands of time. Parents, aunts, uncles … all gone. I wouldn’t be surprised to learn many of those wouldn’t have bet on us lasting this long. Yet here we are, a little dinged up from the journey, but still kicking. Life is full of surprises and challenges. It’s been said that true adventure requires an uncertain outcome and I can testify to the truth of that notion.
We’re planning a quiet celebration this evening. Here’s to 48 wonderful years, and we’ve still got a little gas left in the tank!
