HamJam 2017 is right around the corner. The date is November 11, 2017 between 0800 and 1300 hrs. in a new location this year. Mill Springs Academy was kind enough to allow us the use of their facilities at 13660 New Providence Road, Alpharetta, GA. In addition to a great HamJam, there will be an opportunity to tour their school club station.
We have three great speakers this year. Well known author and 2008 Dayton Hamvention Ham of the Year Ward Silver, N0AX will be speaking on ‘Radiosport – Your Ham Radio Fitness Center.” Noted DXer and leader of the 2017 DXpedition of the Year VK0EK Heard Island, Robert “Bob” Schmieder, KK6EK, will be speaking on “The Future of DX.” The ARRL will be represented by Dam Henderson, N1ND, Manager Regulatory Information and Daniel Davis from the ARRL Foundation Board of Directors. We all agree that ham radio is very much in need of an infusion of younger amateur radio operators. Dan and Daniel will be speaking on “Movers and Makers – Reaching the Next Generation of Amateurs.”
As in years past, there is no admission fee to HamJam. Rather we encourage you to purchase raffle tickets, $5 each or 5 for $20. We have our usual great prizes including an Icom IC-7300, a Signature Series 6300 for Flex Radio Systems, an Elecraft KX-2, a Yaesu FT-400XD and many more. One change from previous years: you do not need to be present to win any prize. If your ticket is drawn and you are not there, we will mail it to you. Tickets are available from a NFARL Board member, at one of our excellent meetings or online.
All proceeds go to support youth activities. We very much hope you will join us and lend your support to a very worthy cause.
